Anybody can save pictures from a website. The laziests just take a screen captures, more adventurous users open the browser's built-in page inspector. It'd be foolish nowadays to believe that you can prevent a user from saving your pictures. But what is lesser known is that the same goes for 3D objects. Realtime 3D within the web browser a. WebGL has been around for long enough now to be widely supported and allow platforms to rely on it. Sketchfab is one of them, providing an amazing in-browser 3D viewer and being kind of the "YouTube of 3D objects", for what this means.
Quite similar, though more oriented on self-hosting, is the Marmoset Viewer. But another website that interested me a lot here is Google Maps.
Did you now that you can hold the Ctrl key to rotate the view? Google Maps is actually in 3D on devices that support it. It shows not only the mounts and valley, but also a full 3D scan of every single building of many cities around the world! Wow, so much data! What cool things could we do with this? Nice 3D flight overs, impressive holliwoodian visual effects, city mashups… You tell, I'm sure you have a lot of ideas! But mmh, wait, how do we actually get this data into a 3D software?
This is where our long journey begins. I am not the first to try and tackle this challenge. It only takes a minute to sign up. I have made multiple attempts to generate 3D maps into Blender from Google Maps. I resorted to different tutorials to see what I could possibly be doing wrong.
All attempts would end with the same result via an error message stating that I wasn't in Satellite Mode when I saved the capture, although I was. I would like to know what else could be wrong if I have followed directions for installing Blender, Renderdoc, and Maps Model Importer, have them all run correctly, seemingly, but still get nothing but the same error message on every attempt?
I was able to get around this problem by installing a former stable version of RenderDoc. I had been running 1. NazzarenoGiannelli wangzhongliang what GPUs do you have? I was having this issue on 2. For me the issue was blender 2. I deleted the 2. NazzarenoGiannelli It seems to be an unrelated issue.
Can you check that there is a file called "python. OpenGLES is whet is expected. I think the capture is good, but cannot be read by the renderdoc. I would have first though about a version missmatch but if you tried all versions renderdoc 1.
